Public Lectures CAS Regenerative Materials 2026
02. März 2026
13. April 2026

After three successful editions in 2020 - 2025 the CAS ETH in Regenerative Materials is back for a next chapter in 2026. Like the others, this edition will be colorful and full of interesting encounters.
In each Module, we will invite you to public lectures broadcasted online. Here are the dates:
- Monday, 13.04.2026, 16h30-17h30 (CEST)
Sofia Arris Roucan
Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air quality is increasingly central to healthy and sustainable buildings. Recent research shows that natural materials can actively influence indoor
pollutants, from CO₂ to VOCs and other reactive compounds.
At the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour, Sofia Arris Roucan investigates how earth-based materials affect indoor environments. Her work spans CO₂ regulation, the reduction of formaldehyde and other VOCs, and broader potentials such as ozone buffering and the degradation of certain pollutants.
In her lecture, she will present key findings from this research and outline how earth materials can contribute to healthier indoor spaces.
- Monday, 02.03.2026, 17h00-18h00 (UTC+1)
Thomas Auer
New simplicity - Einfach Bauen
The construction industry is under increasing pressure: rising energy demand, limited resources, and growing climate requirements are reshaping how we design and build. These challenges highlight the need for approaches that are both efficient and environmentally grounded.
Thomas Auer, professor at the Technical University of Munich and for two decades managing partner at Transsolar, is internationally recognised for his contributions to climate-responsive design. His work links architecture with building physics, promoting solutions that are simple, robust, and closely aligned with environmental performance.
In his lecture, he explored how a clearer, climate-oriented design mindset can support more resilient and resource-conscious buildings.
